M. Beatrice Hicks Rhodes, 96, widow of William Manning Rhodes, Sr., died Thursday, February 4, 2010. Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Royal Guy and Mayme Harbin Hicks. Mrs. Rhodes was retired from Union Bleachery. She was a member of Parisview Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Hazel Chandler and husband, Carlton, of Simpsonville; two sons, Roy E. Rhodes, Sr. and wife, Frances, and Dan L. Rhodes, Sr. and wife, Jeanne all of Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Rhodes of Greenville; ten grandchildren; a step grandson; nine great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William M. Rhodes, Jr.; a sister, Hazel Pace; and two brothers, J.R. and Jack H. Hicks. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Memorials may be made to Parisview Baptist Church, 100 Bud Street, Greenville, Sc 29617 or Solaris Hospice, 207 Adley Way, Greenville, SC 29607. A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes.
